Kamilla La Haganes defended her PhD

Kamilla La Haganes defended her PhD with great success last week. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of time-restricted eating and high- intensity interval training on cardiometabolic health in women with overweight or obesity.

During her defence, Kamilla impressed us in the academic discussion with her opponents, Professor Stuart Phillips and Dr. Jonas Salling Quist. She also gave an insightful trial lecture titled: "Does the addition of exercise to GLP-1 receptor agonist-induced weight loss have any beneficial effects on health?"—to which the simple answer was: "Yes, is being my answer” (we hope you take the Love Actually reference).

Kamilla’s PhD work has resulted in three published papers:
  1. Time-restricted eating and exercise training improve HbA1c and body composition in women with overweight/obesity: A randomized controlled trial

  2. Impact of Time-Restricted Eating and High-Intensity Exercise on Nutrient Intake in Women with Overweight/Obesity: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

  3. Maintenance of time-restricted eating and high-intensity interval training in women with overweight/obesity 2 years after a randomized controlled trial

The full thes is will be available soon in NTNU Open

Thanks to funding from Stiftelsen Dam, Kamilla will now continue her academic career as a postdoctoral researcher with us and further explore time-restricted eating and high-intensity interval training as lifestyle intervention for people with overweight or obesity.

The ExCaR team is very proud of Kamilla and happy she will remain a part of our group in the years ahead.
